You may be asking yourself one of these questions, “How big is a full size bed?”, “What is a double bed size?”, or even “What’s the difference between a full, double and standard sized bed?”. If so, the answers to these questions can be found below.
Let’s start off by letting you know that a full sized, double size and standard sized bed are all the same size coming in at approx 53 inches wide by 75 inches long. Now the reason we say approximately is because every manufacturer is different and the sizes can vary just a little bit. ¼ of inch here, ½ an inch there. Here at Serta our full sized (aka double sized) mattress measurements are 53” x 74 ½”.
Now that you know the dimensions of a full sized bed, let’s talk about why you would choose a full over another size. First, full size mattresses are known as the next step after graduating from a twin, especially when it comes to our younger generation. If you live in a smaller space, this mattress size is a practical choice. A full size bed is great for a larger dorm room, a first apartment, a single sleeper who wants a little more room, couples who don’t mind cuddling, growing kids/young adults or even a guest room.
We know a mattress is an investment that you don’t want to have to invest in again in a few years so consider all the size dimensions, your space and your needs before investing.
